Huskers stop by to see Moudy

Nebraska commitment Mike Moudy doesn't need any reassuring about his commitment, but Nebraska was out to see him this week regardless with a bye on their schedule. Coach Barney Cotton stopped by to see Moudy whose team is improving as the season goes along. Moudy talks about Castle Rock (Colo.) Douglas County and if teams are still recruiting him or not.

Mike Moudy from Castle Rock (Colo.) Douglas County saw Nebraska at his school this past week. While the coach was there, they couldn't talk and the coach didn't see Moudy practice.

"Coach Barney Cotton came by," Moudy said. "We aren't able to talk to them face to face, but we talk on the phone.

"He came by to see me at the school and was going to see us practice. We didn't have practice that day though."

Douglas County didn't get off to the start that they hoped for on the year, but have turned it around. Moudy said that they just have to keep things going in the right direction.

"We're 2-2. We started out a little slow, but I think that we have the ball rolling now and we just have to keep building on it.

"Absolutely, I wanted to work on pass blocking technique as well as some explosion that will help me in the run game. I think that I am improving, but there's still work to do."

Moudy didn't make the Junior Day at Nebraska in July, but he was up for the home opener. The visit for the home opener was an official visit.

"I made their home opener for my official visit. It's a lot different for one of their regular games in comparison to their spring game.

"Yeah, the atmosphere is intense for the spring game, but it's nothing like a regular game. The players and the coaches were all fired up.

"It was interesting to see how they were all behaving the night before. I went to a couple of the meetings with them and the coaches. It was interesting to see."

Moudy has a strong opinion about the Nebraska team this year and the direction of the program in general. He thinks that Bo is in a great position to turn things around.

"They want to be a National Championship team and they want to be a contender. Coach Bo Pelini has a great opportunity to bring this team back to its original status.

"It's been a slot period for Nebraska up to Coach Pelini coming to Nebraska and I think that he has them in the right direction."

Lots of times recruits, despite being committed, continue to be recruited by other schools. Moudy said that he told all of the schools that he was done and his coach has kept the attention away from him as well.

"Nope, nothing. Right after I committed, I cut off pretty much all contact with the schools that were recruiting me. I shut down that aspect of my season.

"My coach has done a really great job of channeling all of the recruiting away from me and that has been good; I asked him to do that. I am just not interested in any other schools."

"I have talked off and on with Tyler Gabbert and Andrew Rodriguez. I haven't had a chance to talk to talk to some of the newer guys, but I will figure that out."
