Fort Scott trio visits Nebraska

There was a big surprise for Husker fans in the middle of last week when it was discovered by Scott Eklund and that a trio of Fort Scott (Kans.) players, including one committed to LSU, were officially visiting Nebraska this past weekend. A real relationship seems to be budding between Nebraska and Fort Scott, but there won't be a lot of comments on the visits for a while.

Nebraska hosted Jermarcus Hardrick, Lavonte David and Anthony White this weekend from Fort Scott (Kans.) C.C. All have been unavailable for comment on the trip and according to the coach that is by design.

"It's all by design," Head Coach Jeff Sims said about his players that visited Nebraska. "We still have one football game left and they would like to focus on that.

"As far as they are concerned, Hardrick is still going to LSU. LaVonte and Anthony had a nice trip to Nebraska and enjoyed the game, but they want to focus on finishing up this semester.

"Any other school announcements by any of those players won't be made until after the bowl game and our season are over. That is on December 6th."

Coach Sims did know some intimate details about the trip and said that everything was the same for Hardrick. He did say that no offers were extended to White and David as of yet as well.

"Right now Yoshi (Hardrick) is committed to LSU and like he's been telling everyone he went to the game to see a former team mate play and with his current team mates.

"LaVonte and Anthony went on the trip. There were no formal offers made. It was just an opportunity to go to the game and meet the coaches. Nebraska has things to do football-wise and so do we. They all had a nice time, but it's time to focus."

Fort Scott gets ready to face Blinn on 12/6, which beat Chase Harper and Navarro, for the National Championship. Coach Simms knows that his team is in for a battle.

"We are the #1 team in the country and we play for the National Championship on December 6th. That is against Blinn (Texas) CC. Blinn is very, very talented. We are trying to stay focused."

After the bowl game is over, Coach Simms said that there will be a lot more access to his players and information. He just wants this time to get ready for the game.

"You are more than welcome to call me back about any of my guys. Call me back on December 8th and I will tell you where all of my guys are going."
