"I got to talk to Bo Pelini a while back," Niklas said. "Nothing recently, but that is my fault. I have been busy with school lately and I haven't gotten in touch with them.
"Bo is just the coach that I spoke to that one time, but the linebacker coach (Mike Ekeler) is the coach that is recruiting me. He was here last week, but I was busy and he didn't see me."
Niklas is busy in the classroom and in the weight room. Servite also brought in a speed trainer and Niklas has been spending time with him trying to improve his feet.
"I have been working my tail off in the weight room of course. We also got this new speed trainer and I have been working with him. I have been just working hard and that's all you can do."
As a tight end Niklas does everything very well. He is a solid receiver and also a very good blocker. He knows that he can improve and he knows that he needs to stay lower on his blocks.
"I have really good hands. I am a powerful guy and I think that I am a good blocker. One thing that I do need to improve on is getting lower, but that comes with strength. I am working on that."
Niklas has been on just a couple of trips so far this spring and doesn't have any other trips planned right now. His focus is mainly on spring practice which is just around the corner.
"I have taken a trip up to Stanford and I have been up to UCLA for this recruiting thing, but we ended up watching their practice and walking around. I don't really have anything coming up because spring ball comes real soon."
The Huskers are one of many to offer Niklas, but he does know that the Huskers will be in the National Championship picture every year. Plus, the Nebraska staff has said that academics are very important to them and the team.
"They obviously are a team that is going to go and compete for the National Championship and that's definitely attractive. Also, academics are very important to them."
