Elite 11 Top 10 Quarterbacks

The Elite 11 Quarterback camp took place last Saturday at the University of Alabama. Quarterbacks from across the country showcased their skills including several talented underclassmen. Scout.com takes a look at the top performers.

Cameron Coffman

Peculiar (MO) Raymore-Peculiar
Scout's Take: Coffman was one of the biggest surprises of the camp. He should see his scholarship offer list increase with camps this summer. He had a strong arm and was accurate throughout the day. He'll need to get in the weight room and continue to work on his arm strength, but he had really good mechanics and comes from a great family of athletes.
Offers: Arizona State, Iowa State, UCF, Wake Forest

Phillip Ely

Tampa (FL) Plant
Scout's Take: Ely was the top overall quarterback at the Elite 11 camp. He threw every pass with ease. He was confident in his passes, threw an excellent deep ball and was accurate. He had an excellent drop back in both his three-step and five-step passes.
Offers: FAU, FIU, Iowa State, UCF, Wake Forest

Trey Fetner

Woodland (AL)
Scout's Take: Fetner had a great showing at the camp and was probably the least known recruit of the bunch. He is a thick, physical quarterback who had one of the strongest arms of the camp. He had really good mechanics and threw a very nice ball throughout the work-out session.
Seeking first offer.

Everett Golson

Myrtle Beach (SC)
Scout's Take: Golson competed in both the Nike Camp and Elite 11 camp. He won the Quarterback MVP at the Nike camp and put together a solid performance at the Elite 11. Golson proved he can make all the throws and was accurate throughout the deep. He put a very nice zip on the football and overall was one of the top three quarterbacks of the day.
North Carolina commitment.

Colin McElroy

Alpharetta (GA) Milton
Scout's Take: McElroy was awarded the Golden Gun Accuracy for his performance at the Elite 11. He won the competition where quarterbacks were given targets to hit which was on a point system. McElroy earned the most points and out performed Sam Spence in the tie-breaker. He will enter his junior season this fall. He has a strong arm and was the most accurate of all the quarterbacks. He'll continue to mature over the next year and should become one of the top quarterback recruits in the South.

Kevin Sousa

Orlando (FL) Lake Nona
Scout's Take: Sousa was very impressive throughout the work-out and it comes as a surprise he doesn't have more scholarship offers. He has really good size to accompany a strong, active arm. He put together a solid performance in Tuscaloosa and showed great velocity on the football.
Offers: FIU, Illinois, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, South Florida, UCF, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, West Virginia

Sam Spence

Charlotte (NC) Latin
Scout's Take: Spence has just about everything you want in a quarterback. He has good size, a strong arm and is accurate. He came in a very close second for the Golden Gun accuracy award which was given to Colin McElroy in a tie-breaker. Spence needs to continue to work on mechanics, but had a very good day throwing the football. He connected on all his passes and was very good at throwing the deep ball.

Lafonte Thourogood

Virginia Beach (VA) Ocean Lakes
Scout's Take: Thourogood was probably the biggest surprise of the camp. He came in as a highly rated receiver prospect, but worked the position he plays in high school. Thourogood displayed great velocity on the football and was able to throw all the different routes. He can still improve on mechanics, but certainly looked like an excellent quarteback prospect for the next level.
Offers: North Carolina, North Carolina State, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia

Jameis Winston

Hueytown (AL)
Scout's Take: Winston also competed in both the Nike Camp and Elite 11. He had a lot of hype going in and didn't disappoint. The elite 2012 recruit showcased his strong arm and nice touch on the football. He carries himself like a seasoned veteran and has a very high confidence level in his ability. He can add more weight and continue to improve staying consistent, but Winston is a special player.
Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Ohio State

Justin Worley

Rock Hill (SC) Northwestern
Scout's Take: Worley was one of the top quarterbacks in Tuscaloosa. Worley has received double digits scholarship offers from several of the nation's top programs. He competed in both the Nike Camp and Elite 11. He has a very good frame and excellent field vision. He displayed good accuracy throughout the Elite 11. Worley needs to continue to work on his arm strength.
Offers: Arizona State, East Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech
