Junior to Watch, Ath., Adam Carper

Coaches kids always seem to receive the preferable attention during the recruiting process; sometimes with it being unwarranted. That will not hold the case in 2003 for Clarinda, Iowa prospect Adam Carper. The 6'4 200 pound athlete is already beginning to receive interest, and may figure into the long-term plans of some lucky program.

Early Word on Adam:
At 6'4 200, many times a kid can be looked upon at several different positions. That especially holds true when at 6'4, you hold the type of ability of prospects such as Adam Carper.

"I play quarterback in high school, but primarily I've been getting looks at wide receiver and safety," Adam stated. "I'd like a chance to play quarterback, but I'll see what happens in the process."

Adam was named 1st Team All State by the Iowa Newspaper Association, 1st Team All State in the Des Moines Register, and 1st Team All Western Iowa in Omaha World Herald.

Adam completed 70 of 154 pass attempts for 1112 yards, including eleven touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed for 755 yards, including fifteen touchdowns, on 110 attempts. On defense, he recorded 55 tackles (33 solo, 22 assisted), four interceptions, and four fumble recoveries. He also competes in basketball and track at Clarinda.

Mentioned above in the opening, Adam's coach also happens to be his father, David. I put his father on the spot in asking a review of his son's abilities.

"We always put him on the best receiver of the opposing team," Coach Carper said. "He has good coverage ability with his size, and is a great vertical option. His height gives him an advantage, and his size allows him to be an effective tackler."

Recently, Adam completed a visit to the University of Iowa for one of their junior days held. How did the visit go?

"I liked it a lot," Adam commented. "They have real nice facilities, and I enjoyed the coaching staff. Overall, it was a good experience."

Lastly, what will Adam being basing his decision on in choosing his preferred school?

"I want to receive a good education. I must like the atmosphere, and the program must be in good condition. I plan to major in business."
