Catching up with the Future Pack - Week One

We are one week into most high school football seasons and it's time to get an update on how each Nevada verbal did in their games this past weekend. Stat keeping for high school is inconsistent, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but we will do our best to give Wolf Pack fans a decent update of how each player performed.

Drew Celis - WR - Marin Catholic HS - Kentfield, CA
Celis' Marin Catholic Wildcats moved to 1-0 on the season with a 45-14 rout of Miramonte. Miramonte held a 14-3 lead mid way through the 2nd quarter before Drew Celis returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown, from there, the rout was on. Celis finished with 6 catches for 123 yards, 1 touchdown reception and another on the punt return. Marin Catholic is ranked #15 in the Northern California section by Maxpreps.

Wyatt Demps WR, S - Pleasant Grove HS - Elk Grove, CA
Wyatt Demps finished with 3 receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown in Pleasant Grove's 28-14 win over Rocklin. Pleasant Grove is ranked #11 in the Northern California section by Maxpreps.

Hunter Fralick - QB - Spanish Springs HS - Reno, NV
Did Not play. Fralick's Spanish Springs squad opens their season September 6th against Damonte Ranch HS in Reno, NV.

Victor Gonzalez - WR - Norte Vista HS - Riverside, CA
Did not play. Season begins Sept. 6 with King HS in Riverside, CA

Jacob Lacaden - OLB - St. Louis School - Honolulu, HI
Hawaiian high school football starts a few weeks earlier than mainland high schools. Lacaden's St. Louis School Crusaders are 2-1 on the year and lost this past weekend to fellow Nevada verbal Kalei Meyer's Kamehameha high school team 38-17. It was St. Louis' first loss on the year after beating a woefully over matched Baldwin 55-0 and then the 2 time defending Hawai'i state champions Kahuku 45-24. After 3 games, 2 against the top two schools in the state, Lacaden is pushing a total of 40 tackles. Lacaden lead all tacklers in the St. Louis vs. Kahuku game with 9.

Kalei Meyer - DT - Kamehameha HS - Honolulu, HI
The Kamehameha defensive line harassed league leading QB Ryder Kuhns' into his poorest performance of the year beating previously undefeated St. Louis 38-17. Kamehameha's defense has been dominate on the year as the Warriors have only allowed 20 points in 4 games while posting a 4-0 record. Meyer has reportedly been a big part of the Kamehameha defensive line's success.

Matt Moen - TE - Steele HS - Cibolo, TX
Moen had 2 receptions for 25 yards in a heavy weight Texas football game with Madison. Since Steele lost its first meeting with Madison to open the 2010 season, it has gone 43-3 with two state title trips and a championship. However, Madison got the best of Steele this season. Steele lead 38-27 going into the 4th quarter but gave up 19 points in the 4th to fall 45-46.

Ahki Muhammad - WR - James Logan HS - Union City, CA
Ranked #20 of teams in Northern California, the Logan Colts only regular season loss last season was to Del Oro. They opened against #8 ranked Del Oro this season and lost 27-14.

Kevin Nutt - RB, CB - Edison HS - Fresno, CA
Edison high school routed reigning Tri-River Conference champion Clovis 43-6. Nutt had touchdown runs of 73 and 2 yards and finished with 71 yards on 9 carries.

Cliff Porter - DE, OL - Hug HS - Reno, NV
Porter's Hug Hawks piled up 324 yards rushing and only allowed 54 but lost to the Carson Senators, giving up 14 points in the 4th quarter to fall 23-13.

Brandon Scott - TE - Yucaipa HS - Yucaipa, CA
Tight End Brandon Scott had 2 receptions for 55 yards in Yucaipa high school's win 30-6 win over Chaffey. Here's a quick clip of one of Scott's (88) receptions.

Blake Wright - RB - Edison HS - Fresno, CA
Blake Wright, Kevin Nutt's backfield running mate and fellow Nevada verbal had 14 carries for 54 yards and one 8 yard touchdown in Edison's 43-6 rout of Clovis.
