Catching up with the Future Pack - Week Two

Week two of the high school football season and it's time to get an update on how each Nevada verbal did in their games this past weekend. Stat keeping for high school is inconsistent, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but we will do our best to give Wolf Pack fans a decent update of how each player performed.

Drew Celis - WR - Marin Catholic HS - Kentfield, CA
Marin Catholic fought back from a 10-0 deficit behind the play of Celis to defeat St. Ignatius 31-20. Celis had 4 catches for 65 yards but also scored scored three different ways. First he hit Nicholas Heimbrodt with a 24-yard touchdown pass, then he kicked a 47-yard field goal — the longest of his career — and finally he caught a perfectly delivered 17-yard pass from Marin Catholic QB Mahalak. If that wasn't enough, he also returned from leg cramps to recover an onside kick to seal the win.

Wyatt Demps - WR, S - Pleasant Grove HS - Elk Grove, CA
No. 5 Pleasant Grove defeated No. 7 Burbank 14-12. Demps finished with 42 yards receiving in a defensive struggle in which the Pleasant Grove QB only completed 3-10 for 50 yards.

Hunter Fralick - QB - Spanish Springs HS - Reno, NV
Fralick nearly pulled off a miracle in a 32-27 loss to Damonte Ranch. Trailing by 5 with :10 seconds to play, Hunter scrambled 20 yards towards the end zone but came up 2 yards short as time expired. The Cougars limited Fralick's passing to 7 of 20 but he hurt the a myriad of ways on the ground out of Spanish Springs read option offense. The Mustangs fell to 0-1 on the season.

Kamehameha defeated Iolani 38-22, allowing just 45 yards rushing on 25 carries. Meyer is anchoring a defense that is allowing -12 rushing yds after 4 games.
