Catching Up with the Future Pack - Week Eight

The high school football season is nearing the end of its regular season in most states. With the post-season looming for most of the teams with Nevada recruits on them, we take a look at how each player is doing at this point in the season.

Drew Celis - WR - Marin Catholic HS - Kentfield, CA
Marin Catholic continued its march through league play with a 56-0 rout of 5-3 Drake High School of San Anselmo, CA. The Wildcats jumped out to a 49-0 halftime lead then cruised the rest of the way. Celis caught 3 passes for 38 yards, including a 14 yard touchdown early in the 1st quarter, but he was busiest at placekicker, where he was 7-7 on extra points. Marin closes out the regular season on Nov. 9th with their final league game at San Marin.

Wyatt Demps - WR, S - Pleasant Grove HS - Elk Grove, CA
Pleasant Grove, ranked #21 in the state by MaxPreps, moved to 8-0 on the year as they held on to defeat league foe Jesuit, 28-23 in a physical battle. Wyatt Demps had 3 receptions for 45 yards in a mostly ground based game for the Eagles.

Hunter Fralick - QB - Spanish Springs HS - Reno, NV
Spanish Springs moved to 4-4 on the year after overwhelming North Valleys 48-35. Hunter Fralick put on a shown throwing for 243 yards on 26 of 39, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception (only his 2nd on the year). He also rushed for 183 yards on 25 carries and another 3 touchdowns. Fralick has 1809 yards passing, 11 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 907 yards rushing, 13 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Victor Gonzalez - WR - Norte Vista HS - Riverside, CA
Norte Vista won its seventh straight game with a 45-13 drubbing of rival La Sierra. Gonzalez led the Braves in receiving with 7 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. Victor has 33 receptions for 656 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season.

Jacob Lacaden - OLB - St. Louis School - Honolulu, HI
St. Louis' season ended last week with a playoff loss to Kamehameha. The Crusaders finished 6-3 and ranked 4th in the state of Hawai'i.

Kalei Meyer - DT - Kamehameha HS - Honolulu, HI
Kamehameha was eliminated from the playoffs by top ranked Punahou. The Warriors finished the season 9-2 with their only 2 losses coming against Punahou.

Matt Moen - TE - Steele HS - Cibolo, TX
Steele moved to 7-1 on the season, their seventh straight win since their opening day 1 point loss to Madison, with a 38-10 win over 3-5 East Central. Matt Moen had 2 receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown. Moen has 13 receptions on the year for 286 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Elijah Moody - DB - Long Beach Poly - Long Beach, CA
Long Beach Poly is one of the top 20 teams in the state of California. They stand at 7-1 on the season with 2 regular season games remaining, with their only loss coming earlier in the year to powerhouse Servite. This past weekend, Poly dominated rival Lakewood 39-0. The Jackrabbit's defense hasn't allowed a point in all 4 of its league games this season. A junior season highlight video of Moody can be viewed here.

Ahki Muhammad - WR - James Logan HS - Union City, CA
Logan High School bounced back from their stinging defeat at the hands of De La Salle last week to beat Washington (4-4) 41-14. Ahki Muhammad had a great game as he rushed for 152 yards on and 3 touchdowns, including a 65 yard scamper in the 2nd quarter.

Kevin Nutt - RB, CB - Edison HS - Fresno, CA
Edison remained undefeated with a 42-6 blow out of Madera (2-6). Madera kept it close early but Edison blew the game open in the 2nd half. Edison's depth was on display as the backfield Nevada bound duo of Kevin Nutt and Blake Wright were over shadowed by junior Khai Williams who rushed for 161 yards on just 7 carries and 3 touchdowns in the last 17 minutes of the game.

Cliff Porter - DE, OL - Hug HS - Reno, NV
Hug's frustrating, winless season continued as their upset bid of McQueen (6-2) fell short in overtime 34-28. Hug scored 15 points in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 28.

Brandon Scott - TE - Yucaipa HS - Yucaipa, CA
Yucaipa dropped to 4-4 on the season, losing its second straight game, 21-14 to Eisenhower (6-2). Scott is one of the top receivers in the Section, two weeks ago he was fifth in receiving with 747 yards on the season.

Blake Wright - RB - Edison HS - Fresno, CA
Edison remained undefeated with a 42-6 blow out of Madera (2-6). Madera kept it close early but Edison blew the game open in the 2nd half. Edison's depth was on display as the backfield Nevada bound duo of Kevin Nutt and Blake Wright were over shadowed by junior Khai Williams who rushed for 161 yards on just 7 carries and 3 touchdowns in the last 17 minutes of the game.
