After a trip to Reno for an official visit, the Wheaton, IL standout running back gave a verbal commitment to play for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada has received a verbal commitment from Wheaton (IL.) St. Francis High School's James Butler, a 5-9 207lb running back who scouts describe as a consistent, reliable back with good quickness. Butler has traveled under the radar since having to sit out his junior season due to Illinois High School Association transfer rules. His sophomore season at his previous school, Bartlett, he rushed for 933 yards. He has made the most of his senior season. In his first game at his new school he reeled off 181 yards and 3 touchdowns. The next game, he had 254 yards and 4 touchdowns. On the season, Butler rushed for 1,170 yards on 142 attempts and recorded 15 rushing touchdowns.

Nevada's connection to Butler began with former Iowa and now Nevada Specials Teams and Running Backs coach Lester Erb. It's reported that Butler made his official visit to Nevada this past weekend at the San Jose State game.
