Drew Celis - WR - Marin Catholic HS - Kentfield, CA
Marin Catholic defeated Analy 48-20 to advance to the championship game of the CIF North Coast Section playoffs to defend their 2012 Section Title against 11-2 El Cerrito. Marin Catholic's high powered offense, led by Oregon bound QB Morgan Mahalak, piled up 592 total yards, 299 on the ground. Most of the damage done through the air came from Nevada verbal Drew Celis, who caught scoring passes of 15 and 33 yards and finished with 9 catches for 174 yards.
Wyatt Demps - WR, S - Pleasant Grove HS - Elk Grove, CA
The 7th seeded Pleasant Grove Eagles season came to an end in the Semi-Finals of the CIF Sac-Joaquin section playoffs as they fell to 12-1 3rd seeded Oak Ridge 26-20. Pleasant Grove led 7-6 at the half but Oak Ridge battled back to take a 20-7 lead late in the 3rd quarter. Wyatt Demps caught 2 Dre Terrell touchdown passes, a 45 harder off of a flea flicker to make the score 20-14 with 2:27 left in the 3rd but Oak Ridge answered with another 6 points to build a 26-14 lead going into the 4th quarter. Another Demps touchdown closed the gap to 26-20 with 1:07 left but the onside kick was unsuccessful and Oak Ridge hung on for the win. It was Oak Ridge's second win over Pleasant Grove this season, they beat the Eagles 28-14 back on November 1st.
Hunter Fralick - QB - Spanish Springs HS - Reno, NV
Spanish Springs was eliminated from the Northern Nevada playoffs by Carson on Nov. 8th. Fralick ended his senior season at Spanish Springs with 2,489 yards passing, 14 touchdowns and 5 interceptions as well as 1,222 yards rushing with 19 rushing touchdowns.
Victor Gonzalez - WR - Norte Vista HS - Riverside, CA
Norte Vista advanced to the Championship game of the CIF Southern Section (Eastern Division) playoffs with a 38-37 win over previously undefeated #1 seeded San Gorgonio. The game appeared out of reach for Norte Vista as they trailed San Gorgonio by 5 with less than five minutes to play. The Braves had only completed 2 passes to that point in the game and faced a 3rd and 12 from their own 36 yard line, when Nevada verbal Victor Gonzalez made a leaping catch over a San Gorgonio defender and streaked 64 yards for the game winning touchdown. The Braves advance to take on 12-1 Citrus Hill in the section championship game.
Jacob Lacaden - OLB - St. Louis School - Honolulu, HI
St. Louis' season ended 10/19 with a playoff loss to Kamehameha. The Crusaders finished 6-3 and ranked 4th in the state of Hawai'i.
Kalei Meyer - DT - Kamehameha HS - Honolulu, HI
Kamehameha was eliminated from the playoffs on 10/25 by top ranked Punahou. The Warriors finished the season 9-2 with their only 2 losses coming against Punahou.
Matt Moen - TE - Steele HS - Cibolo, TX
Steele advanced to the Region 4 Championship game in the UIL 5A Texas High School football championship with a 48-14 drubbing of 11-2 Edinburg North. Matt Moen caught 2 passes for 34 yards. Steele is ranked #10 in the state of Texas by Maxpreps and will face off against 11-2 #31 ranked Johnson High School for a chance at the Final Four.
Elijah Moody - DB - Long Beach Poly - Long Beach, CA
Long Beach Poly's season came to an abrupt end at the hands of Southern California football powerhouse Mater Dei 30-0 in the CIF Southern Section (Pac 5 Division) semi-finals. The Jackrabbit offense couldn't get anything going against the Mater Dei defense, posting negative yardage in the 1st half. It was a measure of revenge for Mater Dei, who lost to Long Beach Poly in the Championship game last season.
Ahki Muhammad - WR/RB - James Logan HS - Union City, CA
5th seeded Logan was eliminated from the CIF North Coast Section football playoffs with a 67-44 loss to 4th seeded Deer Valley. Deer Valley held a 15 point half time lead before blowing the game open with a 28 point 4th quarter. Muhammad took a brutal hit from a Deer Valley defender and missed several series but did return to the game. He rushed for a22 yard TD run early in the game before going out with the injury.
Kevin Nutt - RB, CB - Edison HS - Fresno, CA
A promising season for Edison came to an abrupt end in the 1st round of the CIF Central Section football playoffs as the 4th seeded Tigers lost their 2nd straight game after opening the year 9-0. Edison fell 21-20 as Central came from behind to take the lead late on a 32 yard touchdown pass by one of the top WR recruits in the nation, Micah Quick, on 4th and 12 with 4 minutes remaining in the game. It was a frustrating loss for the Tigers, who out gained Central 353-121 in total yards and ran 73 to Central's 33 plays.
Cliff Porter - DE, OL - Hug HS - Reno, NV
Hug High closed out a winless 2013 with a 47-0 rout at the hands of rival North Valleys.
Asauni Rufus - DB - Bakersfield HS - Bakersfield, CA
#1 seeded Bakersfield routed 5th seeded Central 45-6 to advance to the CIF Central Section championship game. Nevada bound Asauni Rufus threw for 68 yards and a touchdown on 6 of 10 passing and rushed for 134 yards on 19 carries and another touchdown. Next up for the Drillers is 11-2 defending section champ Clovis North.
Brandon Scott - TE - Yucaipa HS - Yucaipa, CA
Yucaipa lost in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs 53-33 to 7-4 Charter Oak. Brandon Scott nearly single handedly won the game for the Thunderbirds with 16 catches for 215 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sadly, Scott's phenomenal game wasn't enough to overcome a 21 point first quarter deficit. Scott finished his senior season with 64 catches for 1,260 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Cristian Solano - QB - San Fernando HS - San Fernando, CA
13-0 San Fernando advanced to the CIF Los Angeles City Section championship with a 24-14 win over Chatsworth. The Tigers were led by Nevada verbal Cris Solano who threw for 294 yards on 14 of 20 attempts and rushed for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 attempts. On the season, Solano has 3,870 yards passing (297.7 per game), 42 passing TD's and just 5 interceptions as well as 1,379 yards rushing on 118 carries and 22 touchdowns.
Duran Workman - S - Saddleback College - Charlston, WV
Saddleback lost 25-14 to Citrus College in the 2013 Beach Bowl. Duran Workman did not register in tackles in the game.
Blake Wright - RB - Edison HS - Fresno, CA
Blake Wright carried 33 times for 197 yards and a touchdown in Edison's disappointing opening round, 21-20 loss to Central.
