I concur, I was a football fan for many years and quite frankly I have lost interest in professional and college football. My children played sports like swimming, cross country, track, golf, soccer, and even basketball and have no interest in watching football.
In addition, so many things compete for entertainment dollars -- it has become a non factor in most people's finances.
I was a graduate of NMSU in 1981 -- we filled the seats for basketball, but football was lucky to 6000-7000 people. Time for NMSU to cut their losses. Football is on the decline, this state doesn't have enough D1 prospects to fill even one D1 school. Always out of state recruiting for a program that bleeds red and a population that does care. Drop Football and work on getting in a basketball conference.
