I have seen multiple posts on what players can and can't do. So I would just like to ask some simple questions for those that know of the top of their head.
1) Our current players that have already used their redshirt. What would they need to do to go play for Weir? Lose a year of eligibility?
2) Same as 1), but if they didn't redshirt? For example, Figueroa is on campus but has never played or burned his redshirt. Can he just sit out a year and burn his redshirt and play for UNM in 2018?
3) The players that have signed letters of intent and are not on campus, can they go play for UNM right away? I see coach Allison saying no, but I am not sure. Who would need to release them from on NMSU side?
Just to clarify, I am NOT implying any players are leaving. I haven't heard anything. All I have heard from players is the tweets from Harris and Taylor support Bopp for the position. And I also really don't think guys like Chuha, Huggins, N'Dir, Haley, guys that have been here and together for multiple years winning games and building a bond, would leave just to go to UNM. To meet the MWC is just a little above the WAC, and that's because their bottom schools are better than the bottom schools at WAC. As far as the top, I think NMSU/GCU/CSUB and even UVU would handle themselves very well. I just wanted to understand the rules better.
