Looks like we may begin a pipe line to Indiana, Illinois etc? Maybe JC from Texas?
Boston called the return to the NCAA tournament "a first step" toward the goal he and Theus talked about in Atlanta two years ago. "We talked about winning a national championship, not about getting into the NCAA tournament," Boston said.
Lol, as if Bopp is really gonna "stick around ". He got screwed out of the HC job. He will lay low for a year and then resurface at UNM. Bank on it. Bopps history. He's back east this week probably looking for another job
It is my understanding that Bopp was given consideration for the position. It is human nature to support someone with whom you are familiar, and NMSU's current roster seemed to support Bopp. Bopp's only head coaching experience was at the high school level (3 years at Vermont Academy). He was assistant coach at Chattanooga for one year with stops at VCU (director of basketball operations; graduate manager), and at Florida (one year as a grad assistant).
Bopp could be head coaching material, but he needs more seasoning, in my opinion.
There is no doubt Bopp is on the right track. With the players giving him a vote of confidence, it would be nice if Jans could keep him. He just needs more experience for an AD to take a chance on him. I am guessing Jans will want his own guys. Actually I believe there is only one opening left. I guess we will know soon enough final staff and if we have any more players asking for release. Every day that goes by without any new requests is good news. I am really interested to start hearing about Jans targets for the 2018 squad. Off the top of my head we lose Jones, Wilkins, Huggins after this season.
