....New Mexico State or UT Rio Grande Valley?
We know that the answer is New Mexico State. NMSU has a much richer and successful basketball program and given a preference, players want to go where they can win.
Now for Part II. Who can recruit better football players.....NMSU or Troy?
Since 2004 when Troy joined the SBC and moved up to FBS status, they are 100-87 overall, 59-32 in the SBC with 7 winning seasons and 6 bowl game appearances. We agree that they are in talent-rich area, but they have a winning tradition that includes a NAIA and two Divison II national championships.
We all know the story of NMSU football and as a result, NMSU has a hard time trying to attract the better players and enough of them. Many complain about the coaches, but in reality, how much of the problem lies with a talent gap? Coach Dough Martin concentrated on trying to attract the under-the-radar Texas players, but how do they size up?
