Team of the Decade: 1989-90 New Mexico State Aggies, who went to the NCAA Tournament as a #6 seed, losing to a vastly underseeded Loyola Marymount team that had just tragically lost their star Hank Gathers two weeks prior to a heart attack. They defeated several very good teams that year including the memorable win over #7 UNLV at the Pan American Center after Keith Hill's leaning bank shot from 18 ft in the final seconds won it. UNLV won the NCAA Tournament that year. They also defeated NCAA Tournament bound teams UTEP, UC Santa Barbara (twice), and Texas Southern. And they defeated the UNM Lobos twice in a year they made it to Madison Square Garden in the NIT Tournament. The team featured James Anderson and Keith Hill from this team and Randy Brown, Reggie Jordan and William Benjamin from the yet to be released 1990's All-Decade Team. Other key contributors on the team were Michael New, Rick Fluckey and Jason Trask.
