.....that was (is) the name of the pep band that plays at home Aggie basketball games.
It seems that the band isn't as peppy as it used to be, or maybe it's me. At any rate, I remember in days of yore, before the conferences and/or NCAA made changes, the band could play when the ball was in play. The Aggie band had this one song that they played when the game started and when the team needed help. It was catchy and really would help get the Aggies and the crowd in rhythm.
There also was, what is now, a politically incorrect skit in which one of the band members would don a striped referee shirt, sun glasses and a white cane and walk out on the court (during a timeout) pretending to be blind. It was funny, but I'm sure wouldn't fly now.
The pep band during the McCarthy years also was high energy and fun.
Playing the Aggie Fight Song 20 times a game doesn't quite do it. I'm not totally ragging on the band, just saying.....
