A goood program starts at the top, and NMSU has an outstanding AD in Brian Faison. In just five short years here at NMSU he's has initiated extensive facility improvements, revamped marketing and fund raising programs, and coordinated NMSU's transition into a new conference. He currently chairs the cross country and softball committees of the Sun Belt Conference and is involved in a variety of University and community activities.
The latest NCAA Graduation Rate report showed that Aggie student-athletes graduate at a rate of 63%, the highest rate of any Division I school in the state of New Mexico and the second highest rate in the Sun Belt Conference.
& he also got funding for the Renovation of the Pan Am Center along with a new Aggie Memorial Stadium Annex project which is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2004.
an Outstanding FB team with a Great Head Coach: The excitement is back in the New Mexico State Aggie football program. The man responsible for that is seven year head coach Tony Samuel. 7 years ago Samuel brought his blueprint of success to Las Cruces and it has translated into a program that competes for a conference championship year in and year out.
Samuel has won 3 of his last 5 meetings against the University of New Mexico. Before Tony's arrival, the Aggies had lost 19 of its previous 21 meetings.
Samuel's record at home during his six seasons is 15-13. The last Aggie head coach with a .500 or better record at home in his career was Jim Bradley who went 13-12-1 at home from 1973-77.
His ranks third in Aggie coaching history in victories.
Four of the top 12 home crowds in school history have been achieved in the last five years and two of the top three single season average attendance figures have been achieved under Samuel.
Is there any place better than Aggie Memorial Stadium?
With the stadium unique "berm" type of structure. The berm approach locates the field slightly below ground level with seats both above and below the natural ground level. Seats are arranged in a fan-pleasing curved pattern with an almost complete bowl. there are no bad seats in the house. our stadium is one of the finest sports facilities in the Southwest & In 2001, Aggie Memorial Stadium was recognized as the #1 stadium in the Sun Belt Conference by Sporting News.
