Crimson Storm today learned that 6 grayshirt scholarships from last year will be used as part of the 18 scholarships allowable this year. An additional 11 to 12 scholarships will be available for use this recruiting season as the program sees fit. The 2007 season will allow for full recruiting scholarship strenght which will be 23 recruits.
While the APR did initially hurt the program, coach Mumme decided the 5 scholarship loss would taken in a lump sum event in rather than across 3 to 4 year period. It is not yet evident if this will better benifit or hurt the team; however, Mumme was and is willing to gamble initially base on already having to deal with the perceived lack of recruiting process depth left from the Samuel era.
Spring Season News:
Crimson Storm confirmed the spring game is tentatively scheduled April 28th with the three preceding weeks training camps held both in Artesia, NM along with the final portion taking place on campus. Three recruits are expected to attend the camps final few days including the Crimson & White match.
The Aggies will, in fact, play Arkansas Pine Bluff along with the already confirmed OOC schedule including Auburn, Southeast Louisiana and rivals UTEP & UNM.
