McKinney's 68-yard interception return for a touchdown midway through the second quarter broke a 7-7 tie and swung the momentum in favor of the Aggies, who went on to beat Southeastern 35-14
The play couldn't have come at a better time. NMSU had been struggling on offense up to that point and were in danger of falling behind to the Lions
but McKinney's big play it changed the pace of the game and set the tone for an aggie defense that recorded five sacks on the evening & totally shut down SELA.
For the game McKinney had 5 tackles, 1 int, & 1 pass batdown.
