Bob Davie and the University of New Mexico staff have been has been hard at work on the recruiting field and one area that Coach Davie talked about hitting was the Lone Star state. Today's Eye on Recruiting goes down to Klein TX and speak with 5-10 175 DB Ryan Santos.
Ryan Santos is a really solid get for Coach Davie and his staff as he had quite a few offers from around the country, "In spring I received offers from Boise St., Colorado, Wake Forest, Louisville, and Western Michigan," says Santos. "When the season ended UTSA jumped aboard and I started talking to them and that is when Coach Coleman (Hutzler) came down to my school and started talking to me and I set up a visit last week."
So what was your visit like? "It was great I really loved it, exclaimed Santos! "I come from the suburbs of Houston and Albuquerque was so wide open and I really loved it."
"I also really liked the coaching staff," said Santos. "I talked with Coach Davie and really came away from our visit really thinking highly of him and what he wants to do."
"The main selling point was the players and coaches and that they are all buying in and hungry," says Santos. "After meeting with people I was able to go to dinner with the team and just seeing how hungry they are to win and how they have all bought into what the coaching staff and Coach Davie are talking about. They really trust and have faith in their coaches and that is exactly the type of team I was looking for."
"UNM recruited me to play safety/nickel back," says Santos. "My strengths are my effort and instincts. I am really big on making reads and focusing on reading the guards and tackles to make plays. I need to work on my footwork and technique."
Ryan Santos has a message to pass along to Lobo Nation.
"Please tell them to get ready for 4 great years," said Santos. "Tell them get ready!"
