Carson Commits

Coach Bob Davie's staff said they were hitting Oklahoma hard and today that hard work paid off.

This afternoon East Central HS, (Tulsa, OK) linebacker Kimmie Carson tweeted that he was committing to the University of New Mexico and Coach Bob Davie.

TheRedMenace.com was able to get in touch with the Oklahoma defensive standout about his decision to become a Lobo.

"Coach Bob Davie, they just broke the losing streaks at New Mexico, and I see the changes of that he is doing and what he is trying to do and I want to be a part of that," says Carson.

Carson said that last year he played outside linebacker but this season he said his team switched to a 4-2-5 set and he is a hybrid inside linebacker/safety position, he isn't really sure where they will put him at UNM though he has been speaking with LB Coach Kevin Cosgrove. Kimmie also said he has a natural instinct for the ball and with numbers like these

Kimmie Carson's tackling stats

Led the state of Oklahoma in 2011 with 108 tackles
Leads the state of Oklahoma in 2012 with 84 in 7 games.

Those are monster numbers in a state that is well stocked with D-I football players. Kimmie Carson told us he is visiting New Mexico for the first time when Fresno State comes to town and he chose New Mexico over Washington St., Oregon State, Arkansas St., Arkansas, and South Dakota.

TheRedMenace.com would like to thank Kimmie Carson for making some time for us this evening
