West Recruiting Notebook

A look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

Commitments Reaffirmed

The news out West got going wildly at the beginning of the week, when Beaverton (Ore.) Aloha five-star running back Thomas Tyner decommitted from Oregon.

But it wasn't but a couple days later that Tyner recommitted to the Ducks.

He wasn't the only Scout 100 member to reaffirm a commitment.

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) cornerback Chris Hawkins firmed up his verbal with USC on Monday, after visiting USC unofficially on Saturday.

Hawkins cancelled a trip with Arizona State scheduled for this coming week, and had visited Notre Dame and Washington, but is now completely back in with the Trojans.

"Chris will no longer take the remaining visits after a trip to the Coliseum this past weekend," said his father, Armond. "He is 1000% committed to USC."

  • A couple of committed prospects from the West took official visits elsewhere this weekend.  San Clemente (Calif.) lineman Sean Harlow, a Washington verbal, visited Wisconsin and Oregon State hosted Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian quarterback Luke Del Rio, an Oklahoma State pledge.

One of the top two-way threats in the City Section, Simmons went from offerless to boasting two offers in an hour, when Colorado and then Colorado State offered him on Monday.
