Big winners
Hawaii (1-0) was the biggest winner of the weekend, defeating Colorado of the Pac-10 at home Thursday thanks in part to a referees mistake that didn’t allow the Buffs to get off their final play of the game.

No. 23 Boise State (1-0) also registered a win Friday over a Pac-10 foe, holding off a late charge to defeat Washington 16-13 in Boise. The Broncos led 16-0 at one point but the Huskies, under direction from former BSU coach Chris Peterson, made a game of it and nearly upset the Broncs.

New Mexico (1-0) tied school and MW records by scoring eight rushing touchdowns against overmatched FCS Miss. Valley St. to win 66-0 on Saturday. The Lobos defense also showed hints of improvement, limiting the Delta Devils to just 74 yards of total offense in their first shutout since 2012.

Nevada (1-0) did very well in their home opener against FCS UC Davis, taking 24-3 lead into the fourth quarter before closing out on the Aggies.

Wyoming (0-1) suffered the biggest set back of opening weekend, losing 24-13 to FCS North Dakota – the first win by UND over an FBS opponent in their history. North Dakota led 21-0 early in the fourth quarter in Laramie before the Cowboys made their comeback.

UNLV (0-1) got off to an inauspicious start Saturday, losing to Northern Illiinois 38-30 in Dekalb, Ill. The Rebels led 17-3 at halftime but faded in the second half as the Huskies scored four touchdowns to secure the win.
