Lobos Pick Up Another Highland Product

Rocky Long has made it a point to pick up the best talent in the state of New Mexico. Today Rocky picked up a committment from one of the fastest young men in the state, as the pipeline from Albuqueruque's Highland HS yields another gem. Cornerback/Running Back Jerrell Miller

I just got off the phone with Highland High School's Head Coach Ralph "Judge" Chavez and he confirmed that Highland HS RB/CB Jerrell Miller has committed to play his college football at the University of New Mexico.

"Yeah, Jerrell committed to play at UNM this morning. We are really excited for Jerrell as he will be an outstanding football player for Rocky," says Chavez.

Miller follows in a list of Highland High grads becoming Lobos that include former Lobo and current Arizona Cardinal RB Jarrod Baxter, outgoing seniors Mike Mohoric and Mike Powdrell, and redshirt freshman Phillip Harrison and Ian Clark.

"It is really great for the Lobo program, our program, and all local kids that Rock has developed a pipeline here in Albuquerque and Highland," Chavez said.

When asked where he felt Jerrell Miller would play at UNM "Judge" Chavez said, "Jerrell will play in the defensive backfield, more than likely at the corner position due to his speed."

I watched Jerrell at Senior Day last spring and Lobo Corner's coach Troy Reffett was very excited watching Jerrell go through drills.
