Taylor Rohde Visits The 505

He is big! And he is the man, but leave it to a group of young Lobo fans to have 6'-8" 224lb Taylor Rohde of Pinnacle HS (Phoenix AZ) stunned and amazed. .

The visit went extremely well. It was a bit overwhelming for Taylor and more than he had anticipated. Just from the perspective that we had heard a lot of The Pit, but neither of us were aware of how nice The Rudy Davalos Center is," said Monty Rohde whose son Taylor Rohde the University of New Mexico is hot on the trail for.

After talking to both of the Taylor men it is obvious that their unofficial visit to the 505 can be labeled a success and one that Taylor is not soon to forget.

It started out with Monty hailing a cab for the short trip to The Pit… The cabbie noticing Taylor's 6'8" 224 lb frame put two and two together and viola the Rhodes ended up with a hardcore Lobo fan driving them around… Not a shock there right?

"The city of Albuquerque seems to put out for their basketball team. The whole state loves their Lobos," said Taylor Rohde.

It didn't end there as The Rohdes visited The Pit and The Rudy Davalos Center.

"It was my 1st time in Albuqueruqe, I had heard of The Pit. It is really nice," said Taylor. "The facilities were really nice, and the Davalos Center was very impressive."

There was also a youth camp going on and "Taylor and I were talking with Coach Broussard as the camp was wrapping up," said Monty Rohde. "When the kids started chanting WE WANT TAYLOR! WE WANT TAYLOR! Taylor was wearing a red shirt and he was so awed that his face was as red as his shirt."

I asked Taylor about the incident at the camp and he started laughing. "Yeah… That was a lot of fun."

Both Taylor and Monty told me that at this point New Mexico and Arizona State are the two schools that have offered. Monty said (and you can hear it on the podcast) that the

University of San Diego they had heard was going to offer, but they had already at their scholarship limit.

Taylor summed up his visit with these words. "It went really well, the coaching staff treated me nice, and showed me all of what New Mexico had to offer. I had an awesome time!"
