Rocky Long and Co. are finishing up a nice recruiting season for the University of New Mexico. One of the final pieces is Lake Gibson Fl. safety Mica Williams. I had a chance to talk to Coach Keith Demyer of the Lake Gibson Braves about Mica and his recent verbal committment to UNM.
TRM: Coach, could we get an accurate height and weight for Mica?
Demyer: Yes, he measured in at 6'2" and weights between 190-200lbs.
TRM: What position is New Mexico recruiting him for?
Demyer: He's being recruited as a Safety.
TRM: So tell us about Mica? What are his best assets as a football player?
Demyer: Well, he actually committed to UNM two days ago. One of the coaches came out here (Reffett), and he committed the following day. His major asset is his intelligence on the field. He's very smart. He's always in the right position and helps puts his teammates in the right position. He also communicates with his teammates really well.
TRM: So how was his season?
Demyer: He had a good season. He was 2nd team all county, Coaches' team, and all state. Mica finished the season with 65 total tackles (38 solo) 4 ints 3 PBU's 2 forced fumbles 3 tackles for loss
TRM: Which schools were recruiting Mica and has he already visited UNM?
Demyer: Eastern Kentucky, Valdosta State , Akron , and New Mexico. He visited Albuquerque last weekend and had a great time.
TRM: Is he fully qualified?
Demyer: Yes, he's qualified.
TheRedMenace.com would like to thank Coach Demyer for his time in learning a little bit about Mica Williams who was named 2nd team 5A All-State football team as selected by the Florida Sports Writers Association
We would also like to thank Greg Archuleta of the Journal for his help. We look forward to working together more in the future.
