Refuse to be Overshadowed

JR Giddens suspended indefinately, but Chad Toppert and Darren Prentice refuse to be overshadowed.

The UNM Lobos took on the TCU Horned Frogs in The Pit that matched two teams at the bottom of the MWC conference. 12,401 Lobo fans came out to watch the Lobos defeat the TCU Horned Frogs 74-58.

Unfortunately, it isn't what the fans viewed on the court that made news as prior to the game Coach Ritchie Mckay suspended Jr. guard JR Giddens "indefinitely" from the basketball team meaning that he won't be traveling nor practicing with the team until Coach Mckay and he come to terms and the suspension is lifted.

It is really too bad that this incident overshadowed the game as UNM played strong versus TCU Saturday night led by two players who hail from the Land of Enchantment as Chad Toppert (Albuquerque Academy) and Darren Prentice (Alamogordo) were instrumental in the Lobo victory!

Chad Toppert

How good did they play you ask? Well improving Chad Toppert tied career highs in scoring (20 points) 3 point shots (6 treys) and rebounding (5 boards).

Not to be outdone, Darren Prentice had a career best 8 assists while scoring 16 points.

After the game Wes Henderson and myself conducted a podcast outside of The Pit doors.
