Eye On Recruiting: Curtis Dennis

Alford, Noodles, and Walker do it again as Curtis Dennis makes a decision.

I received some information at work late this evening about 6-5 combo guard Curtis Dennis. With the information from the Houston based website I shot a call to the New York City prospect about this information…

"I've committed to play for New Mexico," said Curtis Dennis. "I really like what is going on at New Mexico. The Lobos have been on me since July and the coaches have really been great guys to talk to. They have helped me out with advice, really been great with my parents. They really made me feel very comfortable while they have been recruiting me, so I feel really good about my decision."

With the size UNM has coming in next year it was obvious they needed a guard, and one of the best places to get a guard is in New York… "I'm a 6-5 combo guard/forward," says Curtis. "I prefer the 2 position as I'm a slasher to the hoop and can penetrate, or step back and shoot from distance as I can create my own shot."

"Oklahoma, Nebraska, Cincinnati, UTEP, Iowa St., Marquette, Baylor, and Texas A&M are just some of the schools that have really expressed interest in me," said Curtis. "I chose New Mexico because I think we are going to have a great team next year. They have Isaiah (Rusher), Will (Brown), and going after Phil (McDonald). I played with and against those dudes in Houston (Curtis played at Gulf Shore Academy last year) and they are really good. Lobo fans are going to have something to look forward to next year!"

Curtis expressed to me that he is very anxious to get started at UNM as he feels his hard work has paid off. "My coach at Gulf Shore (Ken "Juice" Williams now at Inner City Academy where Curtis Dennis will play this year.) really has helped me to get a killer instinct and taught me how to work hard and become a complete player," said Curtis. "I'm so anxious to get started now that the hard work has paid off."
