Relax Worry Warts

Amidst rumors of the New Mexico men's basketball programs demise at the hands of Indiana... New Mexico and Steve Alford are reportedly ready to sign a three year extension

Amidst rumors of Bloomington IN planes and AD's touching down in Albuquerque with job offers in hand, and the â??sky is falling fansâ?? lamenting the loss of first year head coach Steve Alford, the Albuquerque Journal is reporting that University of New Mexico Menâ??s Basketball Coach Steve Alford is set to sign a 3 year contract extension with the school.

Details of the contract extension are not available as there will be a press conference today at 3:00 PM detailing the extension.

Alford set the 505 on fire this season as he took over a last place team and turned them into a conference contender finishing the season 24-9 and an eventual 3rd place finish and NIT bid. Not to mention the recruiting class that many consider the best recruiting class ever brought to the University of New Mexico.

Rumors of Alford leaving for Indiana have been hot and heavy across the Internet, and if not just Indiana another of the so called power conferences. Todayâ??s contract extension should help quell some of the rumors as well as show the fans of UNM that AD Paul Krebs and Coach Alford are serious about building a power program here in The Pit.

Stay tuned to TheRedMenace.com as later today we will have the details of todayâ??s contract extension.

And talk about it on our message board
