's "Leader Of the Pack"

Our first ever "Leader of The Pack" contest was named and voted on find out who the surprising winner is.

When we first came up with this idea there was a little concern that Lobo fans would gravitate to the bigger and more popular sports, you know, the ones on television that pack the stadium and arenas across the country. Let's be honest when we think of Olympic sports we think about every 4 years athletes from different parts of the world coming together in the Summer or Winter Olympiad…

For those of you unaware of what "Leader of The Pack" is let me explain. On Thursday night we list 5 Lobos regardless of sport that we felt had the biggest impact of the previous week. From Thursday night until Sunday afternoon Lobo fans here on vote for which they feel had the biggest impact on Lobo athletics.

This weeks nominees were:
Don Flangan- Women's Hoops
Mike Locksley- Football
Lee Emanuel- Track and Field
Jonny Parkes- Men's Tennis
Tony Danridge- Men's Hoops

So without further ado, you inaugural (first ever for those of you that are Aggies.) Leader of the Pack is

Lee Emanuel Lobo Track & Field

Emanuel made history on Feb. 7 when he became the Lobos' first sub four-minute miler with a time of 3:57.91 in the signature Meyo Mile race at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational. The time is the fourth-fastest in the country this season.

Lee comes to UNM via Hastings England. Here is his bio from

And a special thank you to all the folks that voted. Please continue to play our game as we continue to promote Lobo athletics.
