Eye On Recruiting: Meiko Locksley

Son of a D-I football coach equals a school and state transfer for Meiko Locksley. Go "Inside" to find out how things are going so far young Mr. Locksley.

Meiko Locksley is the son of University of New Mexico Lobo football coach Mike Locskely who was hired earlier this year to lead UNM. So Meiko accompanied his family to Albuquerque leaving Centennial High in Champaign, Ill where he tossed for 961 yards and 7 touchdowns and adding 2 touchdowns on the ground.

So as his junior season was starting you would think that Meiko might be a little upset… Not at all, he did say in our interview that it was a transition but that his teammates (La Cueva HS, Albuquerque NM) have brought me in and made me feel like one of them, "said Locksley. "I'm real comfortable here."

Now on the recruiting front Locksley hasn't slipped through the cracks as he currently holds two offers. New Mexico State offered last month and Meiko has also received an offer to play for the University of New Mexico. Locksley also said that he is starting to receive interest from Arizona, Maryland and Northern Illinois, so this summer is going to be one that Meiko will be checking out some camps and continue to get his name out there.

Of course one of the camps he will be checking out is the University of New Mexico's. I asked Meiko how hard it was to have a father that was a D-I coach and well… Let me just put the interview up and you can listen to it!
