Eye On Recruiting: Ford Commits

Coach Mike Locksley and his staff are on the recruiting trail looking for a few good men! Go inside and find out about the 4th committed player.

Last week TheRedMenace.com spoke with Coolidge HS Coach Jason Lane about Coach Mike Locksley and a pair of players that the University of New Mexico was recruiting. The first of these was WR Joshua Ford.

Coach Lane said, "Joshua Ford is the most unique type of player. He is very quiet off
the field but once he steps onto the football field he becomes a special athlete. He is a freak of nature as far as an athlete."

High praise no doubt, well "the freak of nature" visited Albuquerque this past weekend and we learned gave a verbal commitment to Coach Locksley and UNM. We had a chance to catch up to Joshua and talk about his commitment and trip to Albuquerque.

TRM: Joshua, what is an accurate height and weight for you?

JF: 6'3", 195lbs.

TRM: So how was your trip to New Mexico?

JF: I loved it! It was so good I gave my verbal commitment to Coach Locksley before I left.

TRM: So what are some of the things you did?

JF: Well after I flew in, we went to the hotel and it was beautiful. Then that night (Friday), me and the other recruits just hung out with the players, just getting to know them, which was cool. On Saturday, we had breakfast with the coaches and took a tour of the entire campus. That night we went to the men's basketball and that was cool too.

TRM: What position are you being recruited as?

JF: Wide Receiver

TRM: What skills do you bring to the table?

JF: I am a hard-worker, very coachable, motivated, and patient. I can stretch the field with my speed, and I can go get the ball.

TRM: What other schools are currently recruiting you? Visits?

JF: Kansas (offered), Utah (offered), and North Carolina are recruiting me. I don't have any other visits scheduled but I wouldn't take them anyway because I am set on New Mexico.

TRM: I there something you want to say to the UNM fans?

JF: Yeah, tell them I had a great time out there, and I will be giving them a show when I arrive.

The Lobo nation is pretty excited about Ford as UNM is definitely in need of quality wide receivers and Joshua Ford fits the bill!
