The time to set up official visits has arrived and Dexter Bridge expects that he will be taking one to Raleigh.
That shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering the fact that NC State is one of two schools that has offered a scholarship to the Pennsylvania receiver. Illinois is the other, and both the Pack and the Illini have made it clear that Bridge is a priority and near the top of their respective recruiting boards.
Bridge is in limbo, so to speak, with Illinois, as the coach recruiting him from the Big Ten school left not too long ago. He said he wants to build a relationship with his replacement, or other coaches from Illinois, before he sets up a visit to that school.
No such questions exist between Bridge and NC State, and that means a visit could be in the works soon.
"I'm definitely interested in both Illinois and North Carolina State right now," Bridge said, reiterating his comments in past interviews with Pack Pride. As of right now I'm thinking I may take an official visit to North Carolina State."
Running backs coach Jason Swepson has been recruiting Bridge for the Pack, and the 6-2, 185-pound receiver said the two have a great relationship.
"I actually met him this year," he recalled. "He recruited Mark Herzlich when he was at Boston College, and I go to the same high school. We've been keeping in contact."
That relationship isn't the only thing NC State has going for them. Bridge has done his research and thinks NC State has an offense that really showcases the skills of wide receivers.
"They have a really, really good quarterback and when I went there in the spring I found out that their number one receiver averaged the most yards per catch in the nation, I think they said. I like stuff like that.
"The coaches came from Boston College and did well there. I definitely like the coaching staff and the energy they have."
Bridge said he isn't sure what other schools he will be taking official visits to and he has no dates in mind at this point. Rutgers is another school that has been in hot pursuit of Bridge lately, though the Scarlet Knights have not offered.
