Oak Ridge Military Academy is home to one of the top prep linemen in the country in Brandon King.
Pack Pride recently caught up with the 6-5, 300-pound versatile lineman and found out that there is still a lot of mutual interest between NC State and King.
NC State, Syracuse, Michigan State, Memphis and Troy have offered scholarships to King, while other schools are showing interest. This week King told Pack Pride that those schools, plus Wisconsin, Auburn and Florida State, are showing a lot of interest right now.
"I'm going to take some visits," King confirmed. "I haven't set anything up that's [definite] but I know in three weeks I'm probably gonna be going to Wisconsin for an official visit."
King also confirmed that he would be taking other official visits but just had not had time to set anything up yet. He has been busy transitioning to life at prep school.
Last year King was a rock on the offensive line at Stockbridge, Georgia, and though his new home is different in many ways he said the move has been a good one.
"It's different," he admitted. "But it's going good. It's been real good for me. I've been playing on offense and defense but mostly offense. I don't know stats or anything but I'm doing good."
King said he is being recruited primarily as a left tackle, and given his size and athleticism he could project as an early contributor at an FBS school.
He went on to say he does not have any favorites and all of the schools recruiting him are about even. Where does NC State fit into the equation?
"Coach [Mike] Reed has been recruiting me, talking to me," he explained. "I talk to him sometimes. I'd say we talk about every week. NC State's a good school. They've got good facilities. I'm looking at them. I just haven't made up my mind yet."
When asked when he would like to make a decision King seemed to be unsure but said it could come as soon as the next few weeks.
