O'Brien Talks Wake Forest

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien met with the media to discuss the upcoming game against Clemson.

"No, but I don't have any that he is coming back. Last year I had this conversation with Toney Baker and he sat in my office and told me he was coming back and then he didn't. He didn't have the opportunity to go out but kids change their minds. With that being said, Russell is going to go out and this could very well be his last game. And if it is we're going to honor him."

"We've got a second chance and we have to make the most of it this time because there is no margin for error now. I thought all along one or two losses can get you to the Championship game, but three losses won't get us there."

"The bottom line is you have to win out to get the championship game. First thing we have to do is beat Wake Forest and they have improved so this will be a huge game for us."

"If you contain the kickoff like you are supposed to then you don't give up the return you do. Somebody makes a mistake and it costs you a player."

"We lost the football game, and that was a tough loss for this football team. To fight and play as hard as they did so we move on, forget about it and get better this week."

"[Dean Haynes] was cleared to play but I decided not to play him. He would have been the third tailback, he could have gone in the game but it's another one of those head injuries that you just want to be a little safe."

"It's two different situations, entirely different situations. Entirely different game situations, field position situations, everything else. Plus we were moving the ball against Florida State. With the time left in the game and where we were, the last time we punted the ball the kid punted it down the one-yard line and we rolled it into the end zone to get it out to the 20. You punt the ball down to the 10, you've got three timeouts."

"We're not getting the ball in the end zone, and that is the bottom line. We have to find a way to get the ball into the end zone and score touchdowns. We've missed field goals, they have been low and blocked and whatever. Field goals are good because they are still points but we have to do a better job."

"The game starts at 2 p.m. but Senior Day starts at 1:40 p.m. or something so we need the stands filled at 1:40 if they want to say goodbye to all these kids their last time they will run out of the tunnel at Carter-Finley."
