"I committed to NC State because I felt at home," said Gray. "I've been to every one of their home games this season and I like it there a lot. The coaches are real cool and I like the fans there. It's home for me."
Gray originally signed with North Carolina in February but didn't qualify academically. After enrolling at Oak Ridge he opened back up his recruitment and considered several programs. He indicated that he held scholarship offers from NC State, Auburn, Memphis, Mississippi State, and Tennessee among others, and he had already taken an official visit to Memphis.
While in Raleigh he had a chance to talk more with the Wolfpack coaching staff about their plans for them.
"Coach Willis, I really like him, the defensive line coach," said Gray. "He's put guys in the league and obviously that's where I want to get to. I know they are going to be needing some defensive tackles to come in so I should be able to play early, that was a factor for me too."
"I'm excited about it," he added. "I can't wait to get there. I was supposed to take a visit to LSU, but I don't think I'm going to do that. I feel real good about going to NC State."
It sounds like NC state might not be finished recruiting prospects out of the in-state prep school.
"They are on them for sure... they have a real good shot at getting them."
Gray stated that he plans on enrolling in January, and he will have five years to play four seasons.
Pack Pride will have more from Gray on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
