PC: Cole And Mattes Meet The Media

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Audie Cole and R.J. Mattes met with the media on Monday afternoon to discuss the Pack's upcoming game with Maryland.

Audie Cole

"We're playing good ball right now and we're doing real good things."

"I think we're ready and everyone knows what we're up against. I think we're prepared and ready to go."

"I've done that pretty well my whole life. I think we've controlled the success we've had and we've taken our losses pretty well. I think we've taken everything with a level head and moved forward."

"It seemed that we had a different mentality around here."

"There's a reason why they have us doing these things. I'd say it kind of took a while to get some people out and get some people out and new people that wanted to buy into the program into the program. I think that's what is making us a winning team right now."

"We don't even really focus on our defense too much. That's something you learn in training camp."

"All it is, focusing on their offense and keys we can pick up on. It's all formation recognition so if we can figure out what's going to happen before it happens."

"I think he's taught us a great deal on how to pick up on that."

"That's kind of the position I play a lot of the time, but it's worked out so far. I'm fine with it. Coach Tenuta says I'm a nickelback sometimes too."

"It means a lot. It means everything."

"We still had too many missed assignments."

R.J. Mattes

"I think it begins with coaching. Coach Horton is a good coach. He knows his stuff man."

"Also recruits, me, Zach and Andrew came in together. Also Camden is in there. We're going to grow up together. We've got chemistry together... I'm looking forward to the next two years together."

"That was probably one of my funniest drives all year... we were just gashing them, five yards at a time."

"At least we came through when it counted."

"It really is one more game left. Maryland is a tough opponent. They've got big defensive tackles and fast defensive ends. They try to confuse you with all the movement they do."

"They still could spoil our season. We've got to come out with the same intensity like we would even if we both were playing for the championship."

"Coach O'Brien... he always tells us if we give it our best. We beat ourselves sometimes with mistakes... if we give it our best and no mistakes, we bring our 'A' game I know we can do it."

"I bought in. Coach O'Brien always preaches that, buy into the system. I don't know if you all know this, but a lot of players have been in and out of the program because they didn't buy in. The players that have bought in are now showing up and it's coming out on the field for us."

"We've got to protect Russell. They bring a lot of different blitzes."
