NC State commitment Tyler Lewis will miss three-to-six weeks with a high ankle sprain, according to his father, Rick Lewis.

"It's the same one he sprained in October," said Mr. Lewis. "He probably came back too soon from it. The doctors have stated he will be out a minimum of three weeks but it will probably be closer to six because they want to make sure it is fully healed this time."

Lewis had been off to a strong start to his junior season. Forsyth Country Day is 4-2, and Lewis was averaging 29 points and eight assists prior to the injury. He injured the ankle in the first quarter of last night's game but continued to play on it and finished with 17 points.

Checking in at 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, Lewis is one of the top playmakers in the 2012 class. After a strong sophomore season he performed extremely well on the AAU circuit, and he is now rated the No. 9 point guard in the class by Scout.com.

He selected NC State after landing offers from Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Charlotte, and Davidson among others.

As a junior Lewis averaged 20.0ppg, 8.6apg, 3.4rpg and 1.8spg, while shooting 57% from the field and 78% from the free throw line. Lewis led the Furies to a 22-8 record and a berth in the NCISAA 3A semifinals.

He was named PACIS Conference Player of the year, Associated Press All-State, NCISAA All-State, and MaxPreps.com 2012 Second Team All-American.
