"I've committed to North Carolina State," said Thuney. "I called coach Horton and coach O'Brien to tell them and they were excited about it.
"I liked the coaching staff a lot, and I got to hang out with the players... all they had were great things to say about the program. They've had a lot of success in the ACC and it felt good on my visit. I had a great feeling about them."
Thuney held offers from NC State, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia and was receiving heavy interest from Missouri, Michigan State, and Boston College before picking the Wolfpack.
He visited NC State officially a couple of weeks ago, and the 6-foot-5, 245-pounder was impressed with what the Wolfpack had to offer.
"I liked it a lot," Thuney said following the visit. "It was really neat. Andy Jomantas was my host, and I got to hang out with the coaches and players. The coaches, they seem like they genuinely care about their players and the players really get along well. It was just fun. It was a good atmosphere and I liked it a lot.
"It helps that coach Horton would be my position coach because he knows where I'd be playing there. I got to watch him in practice. I've talked to him on the phone and he's been by the school a lot. I know him pretty well and it helps that we've been able to build that relationship even before you start to play football there."
Pack Pride will have more from Thuney in the near future so stay tuned!
