NC State quarterback Russell Wilson has announced his plans to turn his immediate attention to his baseball career and will leave next month for spring training with the Colorado Rockies.

"At this point in my life, the best thing for me is to concentrate fully on baseball in the same way that I concentrated fully on football over the past six months," Wilson said. "It is only fair for everyone involved that I give baseball the same time and attention that I have given football. Ultimately, decisions about my athletic future willbe made based on my potential to succeed at the highest professional level."

Russell Wilson, who just completed his redshirt junior season on the gridiron, intends to continue to pursue his graduate degree at NC State and will keep open the option of returning for his senior season of football.

NOTE: Wilson says that he will have no further comment on his plans and will not be available for interviews. Coach O'Brien is on the road recruiting and will be available on Feb. 2 at the 4 p.m. signing day press conference.
