Harrell Hoping for Pack Offer

Charlotte Catholic OL Mark Harrell visited for NC State's junior day and is hoping for a Pack offer. Pack Pride has the latest on his recruiting.

Junior offensive tackle Mark Harrell was in Raleigh over the weekend for NC State's event for Class of 2012 prospects. Is Harrell close to an offer?

The 6-5, 250-pound prospect has already received a verbal offer from Duke. NC State could be the next school to offer, but only time will tell. One thing is for sure -- if the Pack decides to offer they will have a great shot at Harrell.

"It was a great day. I liked the fact that there weren't a lot of people. I think there were about 25 kids there so there was a lot of one-on-one time with all the coaches. It was my first junior day but apparently it was a lot different from what others would be like, where there would be something like 300 kids.

"We ate first and we got a tour of all the facilities. I think the strength and conditioning coach talked to us and we went up and watched a video on the school. The parents and recruits got split up and we got to talk to some of the players. We got an idea for what it would be like there.

"I actually spoke to the guy that's been recruiting me, Jim Bridge.  We talked quite a bit. Everyone got some individual time with Tom O'Brien and that was pretty neat. He's definitely real personable."

Is NC State going to be verbally offering him any time soon?

"Apparently they've been recruiting me pretty hard," he said. "I think I'm at the top of their list. They're at the top of mine. I mean, I'm not trying to pick favorites but I will definitely be interested in them in the future. I definitely like them a lot. They're in my home state. It's far away enough from home but still close enough that my family and friends could come see me play."

Plenty of other schools are sure to show interest in the months ahead, of course, so the Pack will have plenty of competition should they decide to offer.

"The top ones are Duke, State, Wake Forest, UVa and Georgia Tech," he said. "Clemson is up there too. I went down there for an unofficial visit. I don't know how interested they are in me. The guy that noticed me, Billy Napier, just got fired, so I don't know if they're going to keep after me. I've gotten a couple of letters from other schools here and there."
