Three-star offensive lineman Casey Lawson has received one early verbal offer and has interest from several others.
North Carolina is the only school that has verbally offered the 6-4, 305-pound lineman from Roxboro (NC) Person, but all of the other in-state schools and several other programs outside the state are showing a lot of interest.
Lawson has visited all five FBS programs in the state in addition to Maryland and South Carolina. Two of those trips stood out.
"I would probably have to say that I liked State and South Carolina the most," Lawson explained.
"At NC State I liked the coaches, the weight lifting facilities, the players and the environment. I liked the big stadium at South Carolina. That was like a home away from home."
Lawson attended a junior day at NC State and that greatly helped the Pack's chances.
"Recently I've been in contact (with NC State) a lot," he continued. "I get letters from them. I probably get handwritten letters from them two or three times a week. I went up there for their junior day and I really liked it. I liked spending time with the coaches and everybody."
While Lawson did play on defense a couple of games last year he is being exclusively recruited as an interior lineman. He has the potential to play both guard and center, and that helps his chances at more offers.
Lawson went on to clarify that NC State and South Carolina were just the two best trips he has taken. He doesn't have any favorites at this stage in the process.
