"They've been on me for some time so I was hoping they would offer me," said Mikulic. "They offered me on I think it was a Friday, and I committed to coach the same day. Coach Lowe was excited. He told me welcome to the family, and he was happy that I would be playing there."
Mikulic, who hails from Croatia, stated there were several reasons why he committed prior to the spring evaluation period and AAU circuit.
"I like their history," he said. "I also like that they play in the ACC, and coach is good. They are recruiting a lot of younger players and have freshmen now that are playing well for them. It could be a very good situation for me."
Handling Mikulic's recruitment for NC State was assistant coach Monte Towe.
"That's how I knew they were serious about me... coach Towe was at a lot of my practices," said Mikulic. "I want to say that overall they came to three of my games this season and a few of my practices."
Mikulic, who says he is 6-foot-11 and 230 pounds, hails from Croatia and has only been in the United States for a short period of time. The rising senior believes that he has a unique toolset for his size and the ability to impact for the Wolfpack.
"I can shoot well for a big guy," he said. "I also believe that I have pretty good feet, and I have nice moves in the post too.
"I can improve on my strength and my defense. I could work on that."
North Broward Prep's season came to an end last week, and Mikulic will now turn his attention to the AAU circuit where he'll be playing for Nike Team Florida.
Clemson was closely evaluating Mikulic prior to his commitment, and he was also hearing from Miami and Florida.
As for his recruitment, now that it's over he hopes to make it up to Raleigh for an unofficial visit in the near future.
"I'm not sure about the rules as to when I can or can't visit, but I want to make it up there as soon as I can," said Mikulic. "I'm hoping to get up there for a visit real soon."
