Pack Showing Interest in Maryland DE

NC State is showing interest in Bowie (MD) standout Alexander Robinson. Pack Pride has the latest on a future visit to Raleigh.

Alexander Robinson is one of the top defensive end prospects in the state of Maryland and the NC State coaching staff is showing some interest.

At 6-5 and 225-pounds, Robinson is rangy and runs well for a prospect of his size. That's the kind of athleticism you'd like to get as much of as you can if you're a coach, and because of that Robinson is starting to hear from several colleges.

NC State, Iowa, Penn State, UCLA, Virginia and Maryland have all expressed an interest, but for now those schools also seem content to wait and evaluate Robinson over the spring and summer months.

The Wolfpack haven't offered but have made it clear that they will be watching him.

"I spoke to coach (Keith) Willis about a week ago, maybe a week and a half ago," Robinson recalled. "He wants me to come down and visit and go to a couple of practices so they can get some one on one time with me and my family. It's looking good with them.

"I should be doing that sometime in the next three weeks or so, maybe. It will be close to spring break but probably some weekend. I also know I'm definitely going down for the spring game."

Robinson doesn't know much about NC State yet, but he likes what he does know.

"From the basic things I've heard I like the area it's in, and from what coach Willis has been telling me I like the vibe the coaching staff is giving me," he explained.

The Bowie (MD) standout said his goal is to try and make his decision before the beginning of his senior season so he can get the recruiting process out of the way and focus on other things. That said, he's starting to think about waiting a bit longer to make sure he knows what all of his options will be.

Most schools are recruiting Robinson as a defensive end, though at a recent 7-on-7 event at Rutgers he performed at linebacker.
