Class of 2004: Andrew Evans

Raleigh, NC-- When the Broughton Caps are in need of a big play, Head Football Coach David Brunner knows who he can count on the most.

"That's the best compliment I can give a player," Coach Brunner told StateFans. "Whenever we need a big catch then we are going to try and get Andrew the ball because he's going to make the key play. He's sneaky and unassuming in the way he plays, but in clutch situations he always seems to be right there making the important catch."

Evans had 72 receptions for 780 yards and 9 touchdowns last season, numbers that earned him All-Conference Honors. With those impressive stats, local schools have taken notice of the Raleigh Wideout.

"Coach Brunner sent out film a few months ago and alot of schools have been writing back," Andrew said. "I like all the ACC schools and will consider basically any college, but I know that Duke, Wake Forest, North Carolina, and [NC] State are writing the most."

Is their a leader at the moment?

"You can say N.C. State is my favorite right now. My dad [ex-QB Johnny Evans] went to N.C. State and played for State so I grew up watching them."

"I like Coach Amato and they have really improved since he's been there."

Evans measures 6-feet tall, 170 pounds, and has been timed at 4.55 in the 40. Solid vital numbers, but according to him, it's not always about how big or fast you are.

"I'm not necessarily the biggest or fastest but you can count on me making the big catch," he said. "We are going to team camp this summer at Wake, NC State, and West Virginia where those schools can see me in person. I'm also going to the NIKE Camp at Virginia Tech and hopefully I can put up some good numbers there."
