According to multiple reports, VCU head coach Shaka Smart has removed his name from consideration for the NC State coaching job.

Smart recently completed his second season as head coach at Virginia Commonwealth. He led the Rams to a 28-12 record and a Final Four appearance. VCU defeated Southern Cal, Georgetown, Purdue, Florida State, and Kentucky to earn a trip to the Final four.

Regarded as one of the top young head coaches in the country, Smart has posted a 55-21 record as a head coach at VCU.

He has served as an assistant at Clemson (under Oliver Purnell) and Florida (under Billy Donovan), and is known as an elite recruiter.

Smart, 33, made $325,000 this season at VCU.
