Nixon Excited About Wolfpack Offer

Norfolk Christian (Norfolk, VA) athlete Mario Nixon has landed an offer from NC State and will be at the Pack's spring game Saturday.

Norfolk Christian School  wide receiver Mario Nixon has picked up his second offer, and to say he's excited would be an understatement.

The 6-4, 210-pound Virginia prospect has had a verbal offer from the in-state Cavaliers for a while now. Nixon has been patient, declining to list any favorites and listening to what other schools have had to say. His patience has paid off in the form of a second offer.
Recently NC State became the second school to verbally offer Nixon.

"That happened last night actually," Nixon said to Pack Pride on Wednesday evening. "My coach was talking to them yesterday and he pretty much told me just to call them and tell them how interested I am in them. We just talked."

That's when Nixon received the good news. As it turns out, there's mutual interest and a lot of it.

"I talked to coach (Keith) Willis," he recalled. "I really like coach Willis. He's a down to earth person. He seems like he really cares about all these recruits. He's a family-oriented kind of person and he seems like he's a really good coach. He's not just saying what you want to hear, he's saying what's true and what comes from his heart."

Nixon is still saying he's "open to anything" and he continues to deny having any favorite schools. He doesn't seem to feel pressured and may be content to take his time for a while.

Though Virginia and NC State are the only schools that have verbally offered the big target, schools like Oregon, Duke, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech have told him they will be evaluating his film and making a decision on whether to offer soon.

The Pack will have a chance to impress Nixon right away as he plans on attending the school's spring game this weekend.
