The Broncos chose Irving with the third pick in the third round, the 67th overall selection. Irving was the first Wolfpack player picked in the draft, and the first inside linebacker selected as well.
Irving led the Wolfpack with 93 total tackles and served as the captain of an NC State defense that ranks third nationally in sacks and fourth in tackles for loss. Irving totaled 20.5 tackles for a loss on the season and 5.5 sacks.
Irving set an NCAA FBS single-game record for tackles for loss earlier this season with eight against Wake Forest. Prior to that he was named the Walter Camp National Defensive player of the Week for his play in the Pack's win at Georgia Tech, in which he registered a career-best 16 total tackles.
Irving was named first-team All-ACC, first-team All-American by Scout.com, first-team Scout.com All-American, and second-team Walter Camp All-American. He also became the fourth player in NC State history to win the ACC's Piccolo Award.
