He confirmed the decision with Scout.com via text message. Purvis said, "I just want to develop a new relationship with the new staff. Louisville isn't out or anything like that."
According to sources close to the situation, programs such as NC State, Duke, Kentucky, Missouri, and Baylor will be in the mix, along with Louisville.
"One of the best guards in the 2012 class, Purvis is a guy that can play both lead guard and scoring guard," says Scout.com's Evan Daniels. "Currently classified as a point guard, Purvis has terrific vision and is a talented passer. With that said, he's a high-level scorer as well, that can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways.
"His end-to-end speed and athleticism is what stands out the most and he's a terrific finisher once near the rim."
NC State currently has one commitment in the 2012 recruiting class, Tyler Lewis, but will need to land at least one other point guard/combo guard following the departure of Ryan Harrow. As it stands now, the Wolfpack will have just two returning guards on the 2012-2013 roster, junior Lorenzo Brown and sophomore Jaqawn Raymond, so the need for instant impact talent is there.
Pack Pride will have more from Purvis on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
