Does Law Have a Pack Offer?

Orlando (FL) Lake Highland Prep defensive back Ty Law talks with Pack Pride about his recruitment.

It has been reported that Florida cornerback Ty Law has a verbal offer from NC State. Is that true?

Actually for a while it appeared as though the Wolfpack had offered the 5-11, 175-pound corner from Orlando (FL) Lake Highland Preparatory. Sometimes it just happens that there are miscommunications when it comes to recruiting.

"I was mistaken," Law recalled. "I had listed (an offer) from them but recently I spoke to the defensive backs coach and he talked to my coach. He said they have two defensive backs committed and the offer didn't stand. If those guys decommit or if I go to camp and do well they could offer but right now I don't have one."

Did that rub Law the wrong way or is he still hoping the Pack is eventually an option for him?

"I'm still very much interested. I took an unofficial visit there in February just to tour the facilities and talk to the coaches and stuff like that. I liked how they had a lot of interest in me as a recruit. I like how the program is on the rise," he added.

Law was obviously referring to Niles Clark and Josh Sessoms, two defensive backs that are already on board with the Wolfpack.

To make matters worse there was a similar situation with West Virginia earlier in the process.

"I also had my coach call them and figure that one out for me," Law said. "Right now my only official offer is from Florida Atlantic. West Virginia is the exact same deal as NC State with their commitments. I'm going to see what they say later on in the year."

Washington State, Memphis, Clemson, South Carolina and Louisville are also showing interest in Law. It's not clear what his summer plans are but depending on whether he performs well at camps he could see his offer list grow after all.

He has already attended junior days at South Carolina, Florida and Florida State.

Last fall Law rushed for more than 400 yards. Defensively he picked off five passes and broke up 11 while recovering four fumbles. On special teams he blocked three kicks.
